Intel

The Intel area is designed to monitor and track various aspects of the tactical situation. This will mostly comprise of units with a range of identities (Friendly, Hostile, Neutral etc.) and types (Aircraft, Vehicles, Shipping etc.). When you import from a Miz, Trk or ACMI (TacView) file, MCT will generate an Intel entry for each unit it discovers.

Combined with MCT Library, you can then see and interact with how various units are distributed across your theatre(s).

Picture - A visual & interactive representation of Intel

Intel Picture View

This section provides an interactive map and allows you to see how your intel is distributed throughout the theatre. The majority of your interaction will be with the map and intel items; with some options available on the left side-bar:

  • - Intelligent search acts as both a filtered and searchable list of Intel in addition to accepting multiple coordinate formats to find a specific location. Favourite / pinned locations can also be found here.
  • - Enable or Disable the threat ring circle around units, making the map easier to read.

Intel items are shown on the map as you browse around, with their Icons displayed according to their type and status following conventional NATO symbology.

Adding Intel
You can manually add Intel items by double-clicking on the map at the location you would like to place it (Further adjustment can be made later) where you will then be able to supply additional information with the Editor.

Editing Intel
If unlocked, you can drag any Intel item from one place to another. To open the Intel item with the Editor, simply click it's icon - further information on Editor Attributes is available below.

Editor - Work with the raw data

Intel Editor View

This section allows you to get straight to the Intel data and quickly make the changes you need. You can sort Intel with multiple criteria from this section in addition to searching based on a number of attributes.

Editor Toolbar - You have a number of options available with the Editor toolbar, located at the top of the Intel table:

  • Add - Create a new, empty Intel item
  • Remove - Removes the currently selected item
  • BULLS - Disabled by default, this creates a column in the Intel table showing the current BRAA to Bullseye. Enabling this can have a large performance penalty.
  • Export - Use this to export your current Intel list in a GeoJson format, allowing you to display it other applications such as Google Earth.

Search & Filtering - Also in the Editor toolbar are a number of controls to both search for and filter your current view:

  • Search - Search for Intel based on Name, Group & Parent Names or Threat (search is performed in that order)
  • Class - Filter the table by one of more Classes. Click the magnifying icon to toggle.
  • Dimension - Filter the table by one or more Dimensions. Click the magnifying icon to toggle.
  • Identity - Filter the table by one or more Identities. Click the magnifying icon to toggle

Editor Table

When working with Intel from the main Intel Editor view, you will have a table showing all Intel items, based on the currently selected search and filter criteria. By default these are unset and all Intel items will show. You can also arrange most columns alphabetically by clicking on the column title. Entries may have a certain styling, reflecting a certain quality:

  • Brown Background - These intel items are designed as targets in more of the Missions in the Op.
  • Green Background - These are Confirmed Friendly Intel items.
  • Greyed Name - These are Intel items that are set to Destroyed / Removed.

Editor Attributes

You will interact with this section in both the main Intel Editor view and while viewing / modifying intel items from the Picture view, allowing you to interact with all Intel item attributes. There are a number of sections, each accessible by clicking the tab icon on the right side - outside of the Flight Planner, MCT will open on the second tab from the top.

Item Info

Powered by MCT Library, this section allows you to browse information available in the database about this unit. To see this information, you will need to provide a known Threat Name attribute. For more information on this UI, check out the MCT Library Docs.

Modify Item

Use this section to edit an Intel items's attributes - while most are optional, the more you supply the better the Op management experience MCT can create. The majority of this information is automatically completed when importing from a Miz, Trk or ACMI file.

  • - Locked on Map can be toggled to allow / disallow dragging on the Intel Picture map, useful at preventing accidental dragging while browsing the map.
  • - Destroyed / Removed can be toggled for units that have been destroyed or otherwise removed from the theatre without removing it from your tracked intel.
  • Name - Unique to MCT, a custom name for your Intel item. When importing, this will be the same as the assigned unit name from the Sim.

  • Group / Parent ID - A name that identified the unit's group within the context of your Sim (for example, the DCS group name of the unit as defined by the mission editor).
  • Threat Analysis - The name that identifies the unit being used within your Sim. This name is used to link what the unit is with an MCT Library entry.
  • Short & Long Descriptions - Provide descriptions of the Intel item.

  • Dimension - Assign a "mode of operation" of the Intel item i.e Land, Sea etc.

When you encounter a situation where you need to store additional information about an Intel item, you can create one or more Key - Value pairs with custom data which can then be used in your Operation.

Item Attachments

You can add various multi-media attachments to an Intel item within this section, useful if you would like to include additional images or video about Intel. This information can then be shared when publishing kneeboards. Create a new entry, provide a name and then select your file.
